FUE (Follicular Unit Excision) formerly known as follicula unit extraction is a donor extraction technique used in today's gold standard hair transplant procedure called follicular unit hair transplantation or FUT. However, unlike strip surgery, the "competing" donor extraction technique, hair restoration physicians use varying donor extraction tools / devices to harvest follicular units (hair groupings as they occur naturally) during follicuar unit excision.
